ANDREW BREUNIG

OUR TAKE
Andrew Breunig’s delicate graphite drawings are magnified by his attention to anatomy and movement; the stretching of a hand and the approach of a bird create such perspectives. The minimal nature of Breunig’s work allows the viewer to complete an experience entirely their own. By using found materials, he emphasizes the raw nature of his canvas, rather than masking it. This method allows the artist to create new forms without the limitations of conventional canvas work.

Andrew Breunig’s work is currently on display at the United Wood Craftsmen Gallery in Big Bear Lake, CA.

BIO
While currently residing in Southern California, Andrew finds inspiration in nature, graffiti, music, and personal experience. Gravitating toward acrylic and graphite, he creates his pieces through layering various media and found objects on hard surfaces, resulting in work that often juxtaposes images of human anatomy and nature. Through this process, Andrew is constantly experimenting and exploring technique, materials, and application. Much of his work begins as large pieces, to be cut down and rearranged during the creative process. With few pieces reaching completion holding an intended meaning, the artist attempts to create work that invites the viewer to connect in their own way
